You Are The Creator
#19 Writing Tips & Tricks
“A writer - and, I believe, generally all persons - must think that whatever happens to him or her is a resource. All things have been given to us for a purpose, and an artist must feel this more intensely. All that happens to us, including our humiliations, our misfortunes, our embarrassments, all is given to us as raw material, as clay, so that we may shape our art.” Jorge Luis Borges
Raw material.
Raw.
Duende.
Soul.
Depth.
Substance.
Real.
Imperfect.
To let life burn like powdered glass through us. Like a wild famed and enflamed sap. To make us howl, even deeper and wider on the inside. Even when no one can see that ripping roar.
It is our duty no less, as creatives, as creators, to let it all out. On to the page. On to the dance floor. On to the musical score sheet.
On to the streets and the vines and the walls and the sacred and the profane places.
All of it.
Every damn morsel of every damn experience.
What a gift it is to be an artist, hey?!
Question: What has happened to you lately that is great material to shape into your art? Share that here if you can.

Heartbroken by a country I've called home for almost 25yrs, falling apart, and crushing human spirits and freedoms.... 😢 My little art journal is a safe space where I can pour all my angst and sadness.... and out of it all create beauty
